Dr. Dan Quadros is Assistant Professor Small Ruminant Specialist in the Department of Animal Science at the University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture (UADA). Originally from Brazil, he received his BS in agronomy from Southwest Bahia State University, master's and PhD degrees in animal science from Sao Paulo State University. Later, he received another master’s degree in sustainability from Pennsylvania State University. Additionally, he spent six years as a research scholar and post-doctoral research associate at the University of Florida and Texas A&M AgriLife Research, respectively, studying pastures and livestock nutrition. Before joining the UADA, he was Professor at Bahia State University in Brazil, where he founded the Animal Science Research and Extension Center and worked in several large-scale livestock extension programs. Over the years, his research explored many facets of livestock production, including the interaction between pasture management and gastrointestinal parasites, alternative ruminant feeds, and plant secondary compounds in livestock production systems. In his small ruminant program at UADA, Dr. Quadros has conducted applied research to discover solutions and educated producers to adopt best practices to improve sheep and goat production in Arkansas.
