Speaker Bio
Actor and author, Dwier Brown, grew up on a farm in Ohio and is best known for playing
John Kinsella (Kevin Costner’s father) in the final scene of Field of Dreams (“Hey, Dad—Wanna
have a catch?”).

In his forty year career, he has performed in hundreds of films, plays and television
shows, including Gettysburg, The Guardian, To Live and Die in L.A., The Cutting Edge, Red
Dragon, The Thorn Birds, Without a Trace, Criminal Minds, Charmed, Firefly, House M.D., E.R.
and C.S.I..

Dwier wrote a best-selling memoir about his experiences shooting the film, If You Build
It... a book about Fathers, Fate and Field of Dreams. In it, Brown shares stories from fans who
have told him touching memories about their fathers and how watching the film changed their
lives. He tells behind-the-scenes stories about the making of the movie and of his adventures
growing up on a farm. The book has received hundreds of 5-star reviews, and was featured on
Amazon’s list of “Best Books for Dad” as well as being sold at the Baseball Hall of Fame.

In 2019, he purchased the former Tegeler Dairy building (circa 1860) in Dyersville, Iowa
(where Field of Dreams was filmed) and has remodeled it to include a museum called The
Baseball Hall of Dreams. He is a member of the Iowa Farm Bureau.
